Photograph of a portrait of the "Manager of the General Mining Association, 1834-1840." An engineer, Joseph was the nephew of Richard Smith; he went on to become the Agent or General Manager in charge of Albion Mines, Stellarton and later at the GMA mines in Cumberland County.
