"Overall view, National Gypsum Plant, East Milford"

Published in the Chronicle Herald, 30 May 1955. "Production of gypsum and shipment by rail to Burnside, [just north of Dartmouth, NS] has started at the East Milford quarry of National Gypsum (Canada) Limited. A general view of the plant is shown above. At the left are such buildings as offices, repair shop, stores, etc. Just behind them is the waste conveyor. In the centre is the secondary crusher, through which the gypsum passes after coming up from the primary crusher at the bottom of the pit. To its right is the car loader. In the foreground is the bridge spanning the river and over which the laden cars now pass en route to Burnside on the Bedford Basin shore where ships will be loaded when sufficient quantity is stockpiled."
