1000 APPLICATIONS RECEIVED FOR HOUSING

Rehabilitation Committee is Dealing With Most Urgent Cases First - List of Tenants at Exhibition Grounds.

One thousand applications have already been made to the Rehabilitation Committee of the Relief Commission for housing accommodation, and the Committee is dealing with all applications which come before it as vigorously and promptly as possible. The policy pursued is to deal with the most urgent cases first, and while the committee is doing its best to cope with the situation, it finds it hard to please everybody. Great difficulty frequently arises in providing housing and in some instances even those most urgent have practically had to be pleaded with to go into the quarters provided for them. In the case of the apartments the heating arrangements make it necessary that all should move in together, and this has sometimes caused misunderstanding, but every effort is being made to house the urgent cases as expeditiously as possible. All those who are housed in other places than those provided through the Rehabilitation Committee are requested to notify the Commission of their whereabouts. The following is the list of families now occupying apartments on the Exhibition Grounds:
