courage and endurance. I can never express the admiration I have for our members, who, in the unavoidable absence of orders instantly grasped the situation, reported for duty immediately at hospitals, relief stations and in the devastated area and did truly marvellous work rendering first aid, relieving suffering and undoubtedly saving many lives. All reports are not yet in of the work done, and I shall later be able to thank the Brigade more suitably for their discipline and devotion to duty. This letter is merely to express publicity and promptly my heartfelt and sincere appreciation of the volunteer workers and office staff who so readily placed themselves under me for work during the first few days.
