VICTORIAN ORDER OF NURSES.

There were four of the local staff of the V.O.N. on duty in the north end when the explosion occurred. Miss Letts, the head of the V.O.N. in Halifax, was assisting a doctor in an operation. The four in the North end were

They immediately set to work rendering first aid to everyone they could help.
Miss Russel, Inspector for Dominion, arrived from Ottawa on the 12th of December, with 12 V.O.N's from Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto. In the meantime the local staff was working wherever needed.
After registering, work was assigned to the visiting nurses. Eight dressing stations were opened in various parts of the city, each with a V.O.N in charge.
the rest did visiting in the city, looking after patients who were unable to go to dressing stations. One nurse has been visiting shelters ever since the disaster. Another is in the Dispensary doing dressings and otherwise assisting.
