Dear Sirs:
One point which I did not bring out during the interview yesterday is that one object of this office, as originally planned, was to supply information to your Commission. Hence it was named a record office and was regarded as an essential part of the whole scheme; as much so as any card-catalogue drawn up for your information and guidance. The original intention was to provide collections of data such as press-clippings in scrap-books, personal narrative properly filed and arranged, which would be available by you, as well as supplying material for a comprehensive report or history of the disaster with all its consequences and ramifications.
Thinking it well to submit this idea for what it is work, I am
Very truly yours
A[illegible] MacMechan
