SHOULD FORM RELIEF UNITS.
Dr. Ladd, in Charge of Boston Medical Party Now at St. Mary's Hospital, Gives Overseas Club His Impressions of the Great Disaster and Discusses Relief Work Here.
"Our programme today surpasses any we have yet had in the Club," said Mr. Justice Russell, President of the Overseas Club, at the opening luncheon of the New Year held at the Tally-Ho yesterday. And the words were well spoken, for Dr. Ladd, head of the Boston Unit in charge of St. Mary's College Hospital the honored guest and speaker of the day gave a very interesting and helpful message to the guests, and Dr. Fraser Harris' lyric was also greatly enjoyed.
The luncheon was exceptionally well attended and proved a great success. Naturally the departure of permitting the fair sex to be present made the party that much more delightful.
Following the luncheon, Judge Russell gave the opening address of welcome and introduced the speaker of the day, Dr. Ladd. Judge Russell spoke briefly of the splendid service Dr. Ladd and his Unit had rendered to the City and of the magnificent assistance they had given Halifax in her distress.
"It was a matter of comfort that the United Etates found their national policy was to join the Allies and in fighting for the great cause and it came home to us when America responded with such generosity to our needs down here" sad the Judge.
