HALIFAX DISASTER RECORD OFFICE
CHRONICLE BUILDING
HALIFAX, N.S.

[Newspaper clipping]
visited Hospitals, four nursed in refugee homes, one did dressing in her own home and four took in refugees and nursed them. Twelve members sheltered refugees, one sheltering five for ten days and two nurses for five weeks. One did work for the Halifax Registration Committee, two on the Toy and one on the Food Relief Committee. Two worked at the City Hall, two at the Green Lantern Clothing Relief, seven at Masonic Hall, four at St. Mary's; one acting as Social Service Assistant; one re-organizing the Protestant Orphanage, one at the Y. M. C. A. and one bought all the necessary furnishing for cubicles for working girls at the Y. M. C. A.
"Two members assisted at the Nova Scotia Furnishing Shelter, one acting as Secretary. Two members were in charge of the Y. M. C. A. one acting a Matron and one doing all the cooking. Two members helped at Camp Hill, one running the electric dishwasher for days. Two helped at Pine Hill, one acted as dietician at the Infirmary and one helped with Nursing. One member ran her own car all the first day and night bringing in wounded and another acted as chauffeur.
"One member was in charge of the wounded at the School for the Blind, another in charge of the Massachusetts Clothing Relief, and two on the committee of the $500,000, Mass Relief Fund for refurnishing homes; and last, but by no means least, one member has adopted a child.
"It is impossible to enumerate all the work, as each member seemed to be doing "dozens of things". It is only as time goes on that one hears what they have accomplished; but the Princess Louise Chapter has done much to add to its primary object, that of showing its patriotism in making a bond of union amongst its members by its prompt and united action in time of war and disaster."
