Annual Report of the Work Done by This Chapter of the Daughters of the Empire

The report of the year's work of the Princess Louise Chapter I.O.D.E., presented at the recent Annual Metting of that Chapter is as follows:

"During the year 1917, one of the most momentous in the history of Halifax, the Princess Louise Chapter Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire has the record for constant work, due principally to the inspiration given by the untiring efforts of our Regent.

Since the last annual meeting in February 1917, ten executive, one special and eleven regular meetings have been held, and the average attendance has been higher than in former years. Seventeen new members have joined the Chapter and seven have resigned.

"Total receipts for the year ending Dec. 31st. 1917, and including balance of $1601.91 from 1916, amount to $7568.65.

"Money has been raised in various ways, such as, Rummage Sales $2623.00; Raffles $190.00; Bridge Chain and Parties $931.00; Lecture $100.00; Garden Fete $401.00; Afternoon Teas $132.00; Silver Thimble Fund $62.00; Percentage on sale of Opera Tickets $143.63; Sale of toys etc., and Donations $656.75.

"This has been contributed to many funds: Newspaper Committee $55.00; Y.M.C.A. Overseas and Local $450.00; Y.W.C.A. $25.00; Council House $30.00; Recreation Room at the Armouries $25.00; Girls Club $50.00; War Relief Work $1065.00; Library for School in Canadian West $10.00; Sporting Goods for Soldiers Overseas $25.00; Infants Home $100.00; Tobacco for Soldiers $100.00; Picnic for Convalescent Soliders $5.00; Child Welfare Nurse $500.00; Furnishing Rooms in Officers Ward at Military Hospital $176.96; Maple Sugar Fund $260.50 and Field Comforts $1184.05.
