HALIFAX DISASTER RECORD OFFICE
CHRONICLE BUILDING
HALIFAX, N. S.

HANTS COUNTY CITIZENS.

James Kilcup, formerly of Windsor, 2 children killed, wife injured; Timothy Lake, Avondale, injured. Rev. Noel Wilcox cut about face.
Some young men from Summerville asked Mayor Roach to tell their friends they were safe.

When it was known in Windsor Thursday morning, that communication with Halifax was cut off, all sorts of rumors were afloat. These continued all through the day. Shortly after 10 o'clock, Mrs. Fielding, President of the Windsor Red Cross Society, received a telephone message from Kentville asking to notify doctors and nurses and to have Red Cross Supplies ready for a special train to Halifax at 11.30. This appeal met with a ready response, and when train arrived shortly after noon, Doctors Keddy, Bissett and nurses Smith, McRea, McLellan, McDonald, Geldert, Wallace and Boulden, accompanied by Mrs. Fielding in charge of Red Cross and Surgical supplies, Messrs. Ryan, L. Forsyth, Geo. Wilson, Geo. McElhiney, and others boarded the special. The Windsor supplies were the first to reach the City, indeed the only ones arriving yesterday.

In the absence of the Mayor, the Town Council of Windsor, Major Bremner, the Red Cross Society, and other workers, made every preparation to accommodate injured and homeless. Crowds were at the station late last night and again this forenoon ready for whatever demand should be made on the sympathy and hospitality of Windsor.

Miss Nellie Ward and Miss Gelle. of Yarmouth, arrived last night from Mount St. Vincent Academy after the terrible experiences of the day. Sisters and many pupils had been injured. The wounded from the city were sent there and children were sent home as far as could be arranged. Children belonging to the city could find no particulars last night from their parents.

LATER. - At 10.30 this morning Mrs. Fielding telephoned asking to notify Wolfville, Kentville and Windsor Red Cross Societies, to forward surgical supplies and children's clothing by evening train to City Hall, Halifax.
