From 'St. Paul's Church Parish Magazine'.
January and February 1918.

In common with the other departments of Church work, our Mission services and meetings were interrupted for a time. It was a strange sight to see our Mission Hall with every available space occupied with beds, - platform, class-room and office; and although very simply furnished yet all were extremely grateful for the home provided.
After the first four weeks it was found possible to provide sufficient sleeping accommodation in the other parts of the building, and the Mission Hall was vacated.
Meantime many of our people were inquiring when our services and meetings would commence again, end when the hall became free it was decided to carry on the Mission.
After the hall, walls and seats had been well washed, services were once more commenced on Sunday and Tuesday evenings, and also the Bible Classes for men and women.
The attendance has been very encouraging, and it will not be long until we are in full swing again.
We hope shortly to announce a full list of all our services and meetings, and we trust all workers and friends of the Mission will rally round, and begin once more with even greater earnestness and zeal to work in the Redeemer's kingdom.
One of the phenomena of the explosion was the gallery window of St. Paul's, which was blown out in the perfect profile of a head and shoulders. This "Face in the Window" was discovered by a Montreal doctor and photographed. In one of the cloud pictures taken after the explosion, there is also the clear outline of a human face.
The Duchess of Devonshire very kindly remembered all the children at St. Paul's Shelter, and sent them dainty boxes of candy.
The fine Christmas which the Refugee Children of the Shelter enjoyed so thoroughly was the gift of Trinity Church, Quebec, of which Church the Rev. A. R. Beverley is Rector.

Relief in the Mission Hall, "The face in the Window", "Face in a cloud, the Duchess of Devonshire".
