attributes his escape to the fact that he had his skylight open at the time, thus relieving the pressure on the walls of his house.
6. There was a case on Duncan St where the owner had placed a bevel plate mirror over the mantel. Although this mirror had imbedded into it other pieces of glass there was not a sign of a crack in it.
7. Every pitcher-roof house had more than a half-dozen rafters broken: while in not a single instance was a flat-roof more than badly [sprung?].
8. I have heard from many sources that those houses towards the south of North Albert St. were blown down the hill, which is, towards the explosion, while houses to the north of the street were blown in the opposite direction.
