Chronical Building
Duties performed on Relief work. Halifax N.S.
Thursday Dec 6th. On the day of the explosion I proceed to the city from Fort Charlotte by Second Duty Boat, reported at the Citadel and Headquarters and was sent to Richmond on Rescue Work. During the afternoon I assisted in the work of searching for the living, collecting the bodies of the dead and sending them to the several morgues.
I proceeded back to duty at Fort Charlotte, Dec. 7th.
Tuesday Dec. 18th. I proceeded to the Citadel and engaged in Regimental Relief work. I transported furniture etc. belonging to members of our unit from the Devastated Area to the other parts of the city.
Wednesday Dec. 19th I visited homes of our men living in the north end of Halifax, inspected buildings in that district and reported on their condition.
Thursday Dec. 20th. I inspected buildings throughout the city and obtained measurements for glass required.
Friday Dec. 21st. Besides continuing the inspecting of buildings and measuring for glass I also superintended the moving of more furniture from the devastated area.
Saturday Dec. 22nd. I continued in the work of inspecting houses and reporting on glass required. I also visited the Chebucto Morgue and obtained evidence of the death of Gnr. Sullivan and family.
I proceeded back to Fort Charlotte that night.
