of 25 men and two N.C.O.s. Reported to Col. Simmonds, Wellington Bks. for search work--8.40. Blizzard was very bad. 10.30 gale was increasing Hail and rain--house we were working in collapsed. 10.45 Decided to take men back as they were wet and it was useless to continue work in such weather. We were the last party to leave the ruins. Another house down behind us. 11 a.m. Report to Wellington Bks. and decide to take men back to Citadel for dry clothes and food. Walking very heavy and they are fatigued. 11.40 a.m. Ordered by adjutant to dismiss men. On duty with Capt. Strachan 6.30 p.m. to 12. Dec, 15th Engaged on relief work for men of regiment under direction of the Adjutant, for the entire day. Evening of the 15th on duty with Mr. Esther 6.60 to 11.45.
Dec. 16th. Relief work in morning. Returned to Connaught Bty. 2.30 p.m.
