No. 45 Halifax Disaster.
In connection with the work of rescue, first aid and Medical relief, it is known that there are a number of instances where extraordinary work was performed under extraordinary circumstances shewing endurance courage and heroism; also that in some cases persons endangered their lives to effect a rescue; or performed other services deserving of high praise.
While the facts are recent and in order to assist in the work of Officially recording the history of the disaster, it is desired to obtain as complete a list of names of persons who performed such services, particularly on Dec. 6th. and 7th. Commanding Officers will cause inquiries to be made at once furnishing the Assistant Adjutant General, M.D.6 with lists indicating briefly the nature of the service performed, the circumstances etc. (After Commanding Officers, 4th. line above, add. "And Heads of Departments").
No. 46 Clothing, C.E.F. Units.
It is to be noted that underwear does not come under the head of "Necessaries", in so far as accounting is concerned, but should be treated as Public Clothing. (H.Q.593-6-9, F.D.222, 6 M.D.51-1-19
No. 47 Militia Headquarters Inauguration of Daily Routine Orders, C.E.F. (Applicable to C.E.F. Services in Canada and to the Active Militia called out on Active Service).
Commencing January 2nd., 1918, for the duration of the war, the practice of promulgating Routine Orders affecting C.E.F. Services in Canada and the Active Militia called out on Service was adopted by Militia Headquarters, Ottawa.
These Orders will be issued to all concerned as soon as received. Copies will be sent to all Active Militia Units not called out for Service. All instructions necessary for their guidance will be promulgated in District Orders as heretofore Militia Orders will in future contain only matters dealing directly with units of the Active Militia not called out for Active Service. Extracts from Daily Routine Orders, C.E.F., &c., affecting units in M.D. No. 6, will be promulgated as soon as possible in District Orders. This new system has been adopted with a view of lessening the duplication of clerical work. All Departments will therefore take the necessary action as far as they are concerned upon receipt of Routine Orders.
No. 48 Court of Inquiry. (Matter to be brought before Court).
A Court of Inquiry, composed as under, assembled at the No. 2 Pier at 10.30 A.M. this date, for the purpose of investigating a matter which was brought before it: -
