VICTORIAN ORDER OF NURSES. [underlined]
On the morning of the 6th of December, four of the V. O. N's local staff, were working in the north-end of the city. They were all scratched and perhaps slightly cut, but none of them sustained any serious injury. In fact they were quite able to go on working and they helped many injured people, rendering first aid right where they were. The local staff before the explosion consisted of
Miss Letts,
Miss Carroll,
Mrs. Taylor,
Miss Cuvelier,
Miss Merson,
Miss Munro.
On the Wednesday following the explosion, Miss Russell, inspector for the Dominion, arrived from Ottawa with 12 V. O. N's gathered from Montreal Ottawa and Toronto. After registering, work was assigned to them. Eight dressing stations were opened in various parts of the city, with a V. O. N. in charge of each. One nurse was put to work in the Dispensary doing dressings. The rest did visiting in the city, looking after patients unable to go to the dressing stations. One nurse has put her entire time on visiting shelters ever since the disaster. The nurses brought by Miss Russell are:
