Mrs. MacIntosh's committee among them. Mr. Rachatsky made a public statement that Washington had given $5,000,000. The committee brought back twenty names, but no women on the list. Finally added three names of women. In a sense, upsetting, the committee formed on the previous Friday. The committee of twenty-three met the same night. Mr. Milburned said he would deflect rest [handwritten] supplies from St. John. Mrs. S. asked for a Medical Supply Committee. Supplies needed for 25 hospitals, therefore not important. Will Davidson the only one who spoke in her favor. Judge Harris assented. Milburne was appointed head of the Medical Supply Committee, and Mrs. F.B.S. vice-chairman. On the Sunday, established drug-store, dispensary, etc. in the Technical College, and kept sending supplies on demand to the various hospitals. Eaton sent his head dispenser. St. John sent twenty men. Beds [handwritten] twenty chauffeurs in building. Sent Red Cross car [handwritten insertion] to hospitals for orders. Had accurate system for accounting for all things sent out. All requisitions were made out in tri-plicate. Even operating tables and gas stoves were supplied. Dr. Neve of St. John did splendid work. They did not handle serums, but everything else, needed [handwritten] lamps and oil-stoves to make themselves comfortable in windowless bldg [building] {handwritten insertion]. 150 women were working in this Technical College, making all sorts of garments, upstairs. Such as laparotamy stockings. R.C.Dexter has done good work visiting out-lying points as far as Campbellton and Annapolis; collecting refugees.
