HALIFAX, N.S.

Personal Testimony of 'Kid' O'Neil.
Taken at Hilifax [sic] Infirmary, December 18th,1917

An ex-pugilist. Lived 'within a stones-throw" of explosion. Stove fell on top of him. Two dead women on his feet. He was badly injured. His wife asked several men for help. "Go to Hell!" was their answer. Kid did not blame them. It was every man for himself. Wife pulled him from wreckage herself. He wanted to stay and die. She said. "My God, if you stay, I'll die with you!" This revived him a little, She got him on street and carried him on her shoulder for several blocks till he fainted. Then she put his legs on her shoulders, and carried him "like a wheelbarrow" down to the water where she washed his wounds. His chest was completely torn open for three hours . Wife "cuddled close to him to keep out the air."

J. H. Mitchell.

Name of J. H. Mitchell at bottom.
