PERSONAL NARRATIVE
Mrs. Arthur Nagle, residing at the "Birchdale".
On the morning of December 6th, went to Camp Hill Hospital to render assistance. Saw the wounded brought in on stretchers. The beds were filled, the spaces between were filled, the corridors were filled. You had to step "one foot at a time" to avoid stepping on people. One man complained of being wet. Mrs. Nagle found him soaking in his own blood. Both arms were broken and his thigh. Got Dr. Moore, from Kentville, to attend to him at once when he came in that evening. As to the patients, there was moaning but no outcry. One girl was "mad" from burns. Mrs. N. was attending one woman whose eyes were bandaged and had her child beside her. She said to Mrs. N. "I haven't heard my little girl for some time. Is she asleep?" Mrs. Nagle saw that the child was dead and said "Yes, I think she's asleep."
Residing at the "Birchdale".
