PERSONAL NARRATIVE.
John S. MacKeen. Cadet, R.M.C.
25 Bower Road

On the morning of December 6th proceeded with his sister in motor to Gottingen Street to see what damage had been done. Assisted in removing wounded persons. On December 7th went to Camp Hill, volunteered assistance and was told to being renewing dressings. Worked there from the 7th to the 10th, until his fingers were infected. Then aided in the Mounted Patrol of the devastated area, riding thirty miles a day. Stated that Major Racon had gone in to the Richmond School at great personal risk in order to see conditions for himself. On the 6th was assisted by a sailor and a returned soldier, the latter having suffered from shell-shock. McKeen was much impressed by his good conduct and self-repression.
