PERSONAL NARRATIVE
L. L. Maguire.
Regimental Quarter-master Sergeant, C. A. D. C.

Description. Little, alert darkeyed man tooth-brush moustache. From Peterborough.
Was at breakfast at 68 South Park St. on the morning of December 6th when the explosion occurred. He was so near to the window that he could touch it with his elbow. The right side of his face was filled with small pieces of glass which penetrated so far that they could not be washed out.. Later they had to be picked out. The large pieces passed by him to the opposite side of the room. He went first to his office in the Technical College, where the Dental stores are kept. Found them upside down, but all present and correct. Went to report to Colonel Thomson in the Chronicle Building, but could not find him. He was absent at Kentville and came down to the city by the first relief train. He went north to the Dock Yard but did not get farther then the bridge, which he reached about ten -fifteen. Saw soldiers in uniform proceeding in motors along Barrington St. stopping at groups of people and warning them to go south. There was no panic, People turned and went south in an orderly manner. At the bridge he assisted an officer in a British Warm and Blue naval trousers to load dead and wounded from the Dock Yard into automobiles. Officer had no cap, no shirt. Maguire could not tell whether he belonged to the army or navy. Maguire did not know how he (M) could lift so many heavy men. They were brought from the Dock Yard in rude stretchers andset down on the bridge.
