Memorandum.

On Sunday December 9th., 1917, about 3p.m. a representative of the Boston Relief party asked at the City Club what could be done to give the party (108 persons) tea. Hanfield Whitman volunteered to take the whole lot. Gregof Mitchell and Will Black offered to take some off his hands. Hat party at the South end Terminals and marched them to their houses in twos and threes, 35 or 38 apiece and fed them. The houses were damaged. Mitchell stopped at the grocer's and bought bread etc. Stopped a milk wagon and bought milk. The Bostonians were most appreciative. Mitchell telephoned to the Halifax Hotel about breakfast for them next morning. The hotel people said they could manage, "but, for Heaven's sake, dont send them!"
