while bathing or nursing baby in front of it. Managed to save baby. Big woman, weighs about 190 pounds. Husband works in DockYard. His shoulder was dislocated and leg sprained. Her husband dragged her about a mile and waited in an open field until twelve o'clock before they got any assistance. Husband a fine type. Used to stay all night with his wife till seven in the morning. Doctors did not think Mrs. White would live. At the first dressing, while under chloroform, her heart ceased beating. They have three children. The baby was not scratched. Her face was bandaged, had a plaster cast and a feeding tube inserted. She looked 'too terrible'. Miss Doane asked her one day if she wanted a drink, and finding that she did so gave her water. From that time she has taken a special interest in her and visits her at the Y.M.C.A. The sight of one eye is gone and probably the sight of the other.
"She thought she was going to a picnic".
