saying over to herself the rules that the chauffeur had taught her. She had to concentrate her mind on her driving. "It was good practice". When they got up near the Cotton Factory it became very dark, from the smoke from the burning Cotton Factory--"dark as night". They could not find Pring's family and went to the [Commo] Commons to look. Miss Castell left Pring there, and later he found his wife and children, cut a little but none of them hurt seriously. After leaving Pring Miss C. went [to] along Robie St. At the corner of Cunard St. she found a group of women. She took three of them home--a little way further up Robie St. One had her back hurt and had to be almost lifted in and out of the car. The other [ tow] two were just cut. Went back for the others but they were gone. She then went home to tell her mother that she was all right and that she would be driving injured people to the hospitals. Her father sent her to look for tar-paper to fix up the nursery. She looked for it at every store in town and at last got it at Cragg's. Then she went to Farquhar's for nails. While she was at Farquhar's a doctor came and asked her which way she was going. She said "Where do you want me to take you?" He said "I've got to get to North St." [Wh] As they were getting into the motor, a wireless operator named Lye (taking a course at the Naval College) whom Miss C. knew asked her if she would take him along. Also a [lady] woman and a child about three cut about the face and arms wished to be taken to North St. Took them all as far as North St. Station. Did her first "all the way round" turn there. Went south on Barrington. At Cornwallis a man stopped her and asked her to take him to Chappell's on Argyle St. to get a battery for his car as he wanted to do something to help. She took him there and
