HALIFAX DISASTER RECORD OFFICE
ARCHIBALD MACMECHAN, F.R.S.C.
DIRECTOR
HALIFAX N.S.

came back about on 6 o'clock. Worked all afternoon, and after he had had some tea, began to visit homes and do what he could for people. Kept this up until 2 a.m. and then went down to N.S. Hospital where he knew Dr. Lawlor was alone. There were 250 patients there, in the building which had been used as an infectious hospital. When all the cases had been attended to Dr. B. went back home and worked for a couple hours fixing up his house so that it would be comparatively storm-proof. Went about next day in the terrible storm. Found people in the North End huddled in coal and wood-houses. On Saturday things were "worse than ever" wet and "awful". On December 8th and subsequent days Dr. B. worked at the N.S. Hospital until 2 and 3 a.m.
