from Bauld Bro’s.” Took food for Old Ladies’ Home. It was unnecessary, for they had any amount of food, but they were cold and miserable.
NOTE - On the 6th, had to drive past the Cotton Factory. All the walls had been shaken down early in the [illegible] morning. Flames were blowing across the street. Could feel the heat.
NOTE - Jack and Marjorie MacKeen worked that day conveying patients. Saw Marjorie with old ‘nigger-lady’ in her arms. Marjorie also worked hard at Camp Hill.
NOTE - Saw injured people being conveyed in meat-waggons, milk-waggons flat-waggons.
NOTE - Reported story of woman who found a bread-waggon deserted in [fron] front of her house, got in with her children and drove as far as Herring Cove.
NOTE - Case of panic. Miss B. had injured woman in car, head bound up with two or three towels, dripping with blood. Wanted to take her to the hospital to be dressed, but she insisted on being allowed to get out and go to the Park. Miss B. saw a great many men going south. Could hardly get her car along Barrington St.
NOTE - On Monday Mr. O.B. Jones drove his car out the Margaret’s Bay Road to see if there were any refugees. Miles past Chain Lake, at a Post Office he found a woman and baby. Baby could not talk and had been left at the Post Office. J. brought them both back to the City.
