At a Council held by order of the Honourable Lawrence Armstrong Esqr Lt Governor of the Province at his Own house in His Majestys Garrison of Annapolis Royall on Sunday the 13th of Augt 1732 at 3 o' the Clock P: M:

His honourAcquainted the Board that he had Received a Memo 1 from one Monsieur Rodrigue a Subject of ffrance and a Master of a Vessell from Cape Breton Signifying that by the Storm on thursdays night last he was Drove a Shore about a League and a half from the Gu@tts Mouth in the Bay, And that as his Vessell Was Not Intirely Lost but somewhat Damnified he Prays the Assistance of Six or seven men to help him to Repair her so as to gett her off Again [311] Again and to go to Sea, As also for a Supply of Provisions; And the same being orderd to be Read His Honr Desired the Opinion and Advice of the Board thereon

The Board were of Opinion that the said Rodrigue should be Examined Upon What Bussiness he Came into this Province And Why he pass'd this Port And Went to Mines; And being Called, he Ansed that he had bought a Sloop from One there And that he was Come on purpose to pay for her, And that he had for that End Carried there Thirty hhds of Molasses and two hhds of Rum and that it was the fforce of Weather that put him by this Port Where Designed to Call to Obtain Liberty

The Board in Consideration of his Distress, Were of Opinion that the Governor should only give him a Reprimand for presuming to Land any Merchandize in this his Majestys Province without Leave first Obtain'd And Grant him the Prayer of his Petition
