     At a Council held at the Honourable Lieu.t Governor of the Province's in his Majestys Garri~n of Annapolis Royall on Munday the 24.th of October 1726

     Present the Same Members as on Tewsday the 11th Ins.t
Capt Bennett and Ensn Philips ordained to administer the oath to the Inhabitants of Menis

     The Honourable L.t Governor of ye Province Acquainted the Board y.t by what Discourse he had had with the Deputees from Mines He Judged it would be Necessary to Send two Gentlemen along with them in order to Tender and to Administer to the Inhabitants there the Oaths; the Said Deputees being also Inclinable and promising to be as aiding and Assisting in Assembling of the Inhabitants as possible & in forwarding of that Affair; That he had therefore Drawn up Instructions for Capt Joseph Bennett & Ensn Erasmus James Philips [178] Philipps tp proceed Accordingly for y.t purpose and having laid the Same before the Board for thie perusall He asked their Advice on the Same

     Which being Read were Approved of

     Then he laid before Board Some Directions Mentioned in Said Instructions to he Communicated to ye Deputees of Mines & of the Other Adjacent places up the Bay, to be published to the Inhabitants there, as also a Duplicate of the Same to be published to Such of the Inhabitants of this River as had not As yet taken the Oaths to His Majesty

     Which being likewise Read were also Approved of
Mons.r Gaulin upon his submission is allowed to serve the Cure at Menis

     Then He Acquainted the Board That that Old Mischivious Incendiairy Gaulin had Represented to him yt he could not procure the Bail Required by the Board on tewsday the 11th Ins.t But that whereas he had at last Come to make his Submission & to begg pardon for all past faults Promising for the future to behave himself with more Respect and Obedience to His Majestys Governmt than ever he had done heretofore, and upon no Acco.t whatsoever to Intermidle in ye Governmts Affairs, but by his Doctrine to instill, if possible, the principalls of Obedience & Loyalty both into the Indians & french Inhabitants ; Wherefore & finding y.t the
