Nova Scotia. Chief Medical Examiner

The office of Chief Medical Examiner was established in 1984 to provide for more systematic and professional post mortem examinations and autopsies carried out under the then Fatality Inquiries Act. Since 1995 the Chief Medical Examiner has been required to be not only a general medical practitioner, but also a pathologist with training or experience in forensic pathology.
