My Dear Eason
I hope you have got safe with
the dog — the day after you went I got the
pup we were looking at in the street
one day & I hope before this you have
got him by McDormond [ he ] will be
a good one I hope — I bespoke 4 de =
= vils last week which in good time I
hope to see stuck fast in a moose —
My hand is still bad. I suffered a great deal
with it after you went, so as to keep me
in the house for 5 days — how did you
find your family — I hope all well —
Remember me very kindly to them —
Mr Gurly Joins me in best wishes for
you & yours & believe me my dear
          Sir very sincerely yours
          Jno C Carter
