Letter, William Easson, London, to his father, John Easson

Family and business news; William is in London but not faring well; he has had to borrow money from a cousin. His father is in Boston and has been forced to remain there for the winter. William has heard that his father has purchased an expensive silver chocolate pot as a present for his [William's] brother, David Easson, and is upset: "as you are situated at this time Eleven pounds in money would be of more material use to you than a Silver Chocolate Pot in my Brother’s House where there is furniture enough & not much use for such as that…"  18 January 1772.  4 pages : 30 x 36 cm.   Easson-Hoyt Nova Scotia Archives MG 1 vol. 2166 H/25

to me, as to the Ticket I am far from being Vexed about
it. You certainly gave it hoping something might arise
from it and I am equally Obliged to your good intention & wishes & I am sorry I have occasion to send you so much bad News, but I hope it will please God to order
things more agreeable in future both so you & myself
[etc] & I beg you may not make yourself uneasy about
me or any thing I write. I understand from Mrs Collier
that the ship that went for the Lumber my Brother
Contracted with Capt. Collier for, was not yet arrived at
Seceboue [Sissiboo] & that my Brother had been to Halifax to
know the reason of their not coming for the Lumber.
I hope my Brother & you will take care and get your
money from the person that signs the Contract with you
if it is fulfilled by you, which it must be by my
Brother David’s Letter to me of 12 April. I hope you
have sold your things to advantage. I was likewise told
by Mrs Collier that you had bought several things to make
