George Creed - Mi'kmaq Petroglyphs

Tracing of a petroglyph of a hand with a peaked cap and square-crowned hat in the palm

Date: 1888

Petroglyph tracings K: Parts of human figure #8. 14 negatives and 8 positives. The tracings bear a red 'G' which indicates they were found at George's Lake. Marion Robertson's Rock Drawings of the Micmac Indians interpret this petroglyph as "hands... [k8] suggests the hand of a person of authority identified by his peaked cap and square-crowned hat decorated with fir boughs worn by the shaman and other leaders."
