Chipman Family Papers - Planters of Cornwallis

Simeon Perkins

Simeon Perkins was born at Norwich, Connecticut, in 1735 and died in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, in 1812. He was one of the original proprietors of Liverpool Township and subsequently was a merchant, Justice of the Peace, judge of the Inferior Court of Common Pleas, Member of the House of Assembly and colonel in the militia. Perkins was also involved in privateering. However, his legacy to Nova Scotia includes his diary, 1766-1812, an invaluable record which chronicles the economic, political and social life of Nova Scotia, and his residence which is now the Perkins House Museum, part of the Nova Scotia Museum.
