Acadian Cemeteries

Cement block with metal plaque with little cross (made in French Dale and as seen on Isle Madame) — Rev. H. Girroir 1825-1884 (he died Jan. 25 and was buried under the sancuary of the 1st church which burned down. The 2nd church also burned. The 3rd church was built further back, so the remains of Father Giroir actually lie under the parking lot. [ Given the patriotism of Father Girroir, it is very fitting that the little block in his memory has been placed by the statue of Our Lady of the Assumption, the patron saint of the Acadians ]
