Cape Breton Land Petitions 1787-1843

Cameron, Samuel – 1826 – Cape Breton

Petition to Kempt: Petitioner, last August, pitched upon a lot in the River Dinnie, in the rear of the lots of John Jackson and Stewart (Hewat?) He intended to petition immediately, when he was called to Pictou, N.S. as an evidence in a law suit, Sept. 19. This took more than a month. On his return he made a business trip to Arichat which detained him two weeks longer. When he finally arrived in Sydney, he was informed by Mr. Crawley that Dougald Matteson had applied for the land. Petitioner asks that his application be considered before Mattheson's. Note: warrant was issued for Matteson, Nov. 20th.
