Cape Breton Land Petitions 1787-1843

Petition to Stewart: Petitioner, about two years ago, at Pictou, N.S. sold goods to Hugh Cameron, late deceased, at the Gut of Canso. He sued Cameron for the debt and received judgement for 20. After Cameron's death the widow refused to assume responsibility for the debt, so petitioner asks a title to Cameron's land. Note: Land is on the N.W. side of Ship Harbour. Petitioner, after deducting the cost of the grant and the amount due him will give the remainder of the proceeds of the land to the widow.
