Cameron, John – 1813 – Cape Breton

Petition to Nepean: Petitioner was born in Argyle Shire, Scotland in 1775. He was appointed a lieutenant in the Loyal Inverness Fencible Regiment in 1794, and served in Ireland from 1795-1799. He then raised a company for the Argyle Shire Fencible Regiment in which he was appointed a lieutenant in 1799 and served with the regiment, nine months in Jersey and two years in Gibralter, until the regiment was called home and disbanded in 1802. In 1811 he came to Cape Breton. He asks lots 23 & 24 on the west side of the River Inhabitants.
