McDonald, Hugh – 1827 – Cape Breton

Petition to Kempt: Petitioner is a native of Scotland, age 49, is married and has eleven children. He asks a grant of the following lots: No 11, east side River Inhabitants for which he received a lease in 1807. Lot 12, adjoining first, purchased from John Cameron who held it by Crown Lease, 1811. Adjoining lot 13, purchased from Duncan McDonald, who received a lease in 1811. The south half of lot 22 on the same side of the river, purchased from Alexander McInnes, who received a lease in 1810. And lot 23, west side of the river purchased by John Cameron leased to him in 1811. In the whole, 930 acres. Note: May not issue a grant for more than 500 acres to any one person; but petitioner may have his son or any young man in the family apply for a grant of the remainder.
