Master tells tale of loss to Americans

The captain of the tiny, one-gun, Nova Scotian privateer, Crown, here describes how he was captured by a more powerful American vessel. When exchanging cannon-fire, both vessels aimed at the opponent’s rigging so as to reduce the damage to what they intended to take as a prize.
