British Naval deserters offered amnesty in return for service

The Royal Navy was chronically short of manpower, since most sailors dreaded the severe discipline and danger that came with serving on His Majesty’s ships. This advertisement, with its appeal to patriotism and offer of pardon, likely proved ineffectual.
