Mi'kmaq Holdings Resource Guide

Letter from James Flemming to George requesting relief for approximately 100 Mi'kmaq who fled from Dartmouth, Shubenacadie Grand Lake to Londonderry to escape sickness in Halifax. The Mi'kmaq are left destitute.

Should His Excellency the Lieut. Governor
have placed at his disposal a small
sum to [?assist] such, and by him thought
proper so to do. Our market teams
returning without much weight on them
would be easily procured at a small
charge [if any charge - underlined].

I would use my best
endeavours to do a fair and proper
distribution amoungst the [?respective] familys
according to their present wants -- and it
is at the request of these poor people and
from personal knowledge I do this -

Will you have the goodness to
communicate the [?contents] of this to His
Excellency the Lieut. Governor and
Believe me
