795. Lawrence Hartshorne to Gideon White, in answer to his letter asking Hartshorne's support for Major Van Buskirk to be appointed to the collectorship of impost and excise for Shelburne. He regrets that he was unable to do so because of the regulation requiring the surrender of half pay.  Holograph.
