1804 16 May Shelburne
792. [Gideon White] to [Chas. Hill?] informing him of the vacancy in the Shelburne impost and excise office. ''I communicated to my friend Major Jacob V. Buskirk the conversation we had in Windsor, and I know it will give you pleasure to serve my Friend the Major, and I have no doubt but that Sir John will appoint the Major on your and the Attorney General's request. I am informed that a number of Characters will solicit his Excellency for that Office - certainly a promise will now be Sacred.'' [Draft].
