751. Draft of letter in Gideon White's handwriting to John Sargent. He encloses summonses for men to appear to do their statute labour on the roads. "I have sent to each of Kenney's Sons a separate summons which in this Case is Law - perhaps it may be novel to you - but I have had the propriety & Law tried a few years ago - young Snyder when Seventeen Years of Age refused and would not do his Statue Labour he was sued before me I gave judgement Against him - he would not pay - I isued Execution and had he not have shewn property whereon to levey he should have been Committed to Goal - the Purse Pride and every exertion was made and represented at Halifax at a great Cost to Mr. S. - but all the Lawyers they feed agreed that I had Done exactly Lawful since which period we have no disagreeables upon this Point."
