191. Gideon White to Lt. Pagett He has had word of Pagett but his letter did not reach White. Has been ill but hopes to sail soon for Jamaica. Lord Charles Montagu has arrived with news that White's battalion are to be drafted into his regiment. Asks his good offices in obtaining payment out of Col. Odell's estate of White's bill. "The uncommon close of this War has distracted every Good man - you can have no adequate Idea of the confusion here." Further remarks on military, business and personal matters. "I would inclose you the papers but there is nothing in them the Rebells are determined not to allow the Loyalists to returne to take possession of their Estates, a Circumstance many of us hope will be the Cause of damning them Yet. I think we may have a little amusement ere long with them. God direct it may be so." Holograph.
