George Winder petitions the House of Assembly for aid to enlarge his house as an inn for those travelling between Dartmouth and Musquodoboit. Winder states that he has accommodated many of them, but needs the money to enlarge his house because of the increasing number of visitors. The petition was withdrawn; by 1838 Winder was working in Dartmouth as a labourer. (The "new road" was today's Highway No. 7.)

Date: 9 November 1829
