Sale of slave 'Mintur' by Joseph Northrup to John Palmer in Windsor

Little is known about the lives of individual slaves in Nova Scotia unless they were sold by or ran away from their owners. A valuable slave highly regarded for his strength, 'Mintur' eventually received his freedom and moved to Queens County. Mintur married a free black woman; they had a son they named Freeman.
