Les goélettes : chevaux de labour de la mer

“Schooner-rigged Sailing Whaler”

This was once a common type of vessel in Nova Scotia waters. The smaller version had removeable masts with tanned sprit-sails and was known as a 'Labrador Whaler'. The larger version, shown here, was called a 'Tancook Whaler'.
