Sable Island 4th July

Sir
I am sorry to inform you of
the loss of the Brig the Jamaica of
[No3] Bay from Quebec. Bound to
[Ssc…] [Belfast?] that on the nyht [night] of the
22nd of June in a thick fog was stranded
on the S W Bar of Sable Island
& in a few hours became a total
wreck. I suceeded however in saving
the Crew - although - The Brig were
all stove, the waves proving moderate
we Commenced landing the cargo with
Assistance we had from the Island
finding the Shelburne packets here
have arranged with the Master to take
in a Cargo out of the Wreck which
has been accomplished for [taking?]
which the Crew of the Vessel -
