Sir their will be three men leaving the Island in the spring for certain- and I would beg of you sir to send me three good men in the spring, in [them?] room if you please to [illegible] to captain [darby?], he would be able to get men who is requainted with the Island.
Mr Lawson leaves the Island with my best wishes and I respect him as an honest [illegible] + industrious man, who merits all that is due him from this establishment and i remain, sir,

Letter discusses supplies received by the Establishment and those sent off the island (cranberries and corned beef), the inability to catch any horses, money paid as salaries, and requests to replace men who are leaving the Island.
